This is a lovely road ride to Kinglake West Flour Flower Bakery to experience the fresh country air, the scented gum trees, the sounds of the lyrebirds and the amusing kangaroos. It’s an opportunity to hone your group road riding skills in a relaxed manner. Yes, there is no avoiding the 7km Humevale climb. Its a steady 3% gradient up the hill and takes the average rider about 30-35mins to complete.
This is not a race. You have an option of starting at South Morang or at Whittlesea if you are not confident of completing the distance comfortably.
You can ride your road bike or hybrid bike as the pace will be gentle and no drop. You must be confident to ride on the Plenty Rd bike lane and have cars whizzing past you until we hit the farmlands. A safety briefing and group riding hand signals will be explained at the beginning of the ride.
Most importantly, you may want to bring your musette (feed bag) to carry a baugette home.
Please bring a water bottle, spare tube and make sure your bike is in sound mechanical working order.
