You have a sense of adventure and you like to explore nature and the dirt roads. This month’s ride takes us out to Toorourrong Reservoir and the farms of Whittlesea along Wildwood Rd. It’s a mixed terrain of approx 50:50 road and gravel. Suitable for gravel, hybrid or mountain bikes with tyre widths 30mm or greater. Not suitable for road bikes as some of the gravel is loose or rutted.
This time we start at Mernda Railway station and ride out towards Whittlesea along the Pipe track. A detour along Arthurs Creek Rd as Recreation Rd is closed off for the next month. Heading out towards Yea, just past the Humevale Rd turn off is our sign to Toorourrong Reservoir. We only have one major climb and this is were we conquer it. Otherwise its a flat ride.
We then explore some of the farmlands along Wildwood Rd before heading back to Whittlesea to savour it’s famous bakery. I hear the pies and vanilla slices are a real treat.
